It is with profound sadness to announce the passing of Terry Goldsmith on Thursday 26th June after a short illness.
With his boundless energy and support, Terry touched the paths of many through his activities and projects including musicians near and far, community work and animal welfare whilst always ensuring time and care was spent with his family.
Terry was very much a giver, always thinking of others first.
Many beautiful tributes have been received from within the music industry, including, artistes, managers, agents, presenters and more:
Terry Goldsmith | A Tribute | By Alan Cackett
A true stalwart of Americana roots music in Britain, Terry Goldsmith was one of those ‘behind-the-scenes’ people that have been too often overlooked. An enthusiastic music lover, Terry came into the Americana scene somewhat later in life, yet threw his everything into his support and promotion of the music. I first became acquainted with Terry when he started frequenting the Soul Café in Maidstone. An amiable and friendly guy, he always had a beaming smile and connected casually with the performers and fellow audience members with his passion for the music. He preferred to sit up front, close to the stage and he would sway along to the rhythm, seemingly in his own world, totally immersed in the music. At the end of each performance he would always request a copy of the set list. I’m sure he must have had a collection of them running in the thousands.
He befriended countless performers over the years, offering them somewhere to stay whilst they were on tour and helping to publicise their music, by sharing his enthusiasm with all and sundry, including promoters, venues and just anyone who would take a few minutes to listen. This passion for the music led to Terry and Jonathan joining forces to launch the Little Rabbit Barn, in order to bring the music they both cared for, to an audience that otherwise would have remained oblivious to the talents of so many diverse performers, too numerous to name here. Just have a look around the LRB walls to see the impact they’ve made over the years for so many of these performers. Throughout it all Terry remained first and foremost a dedicated music fan. When he received his cancer diagnosis, he faced it bravely and quietly, not wishing to make a public show. That was who Terry Goldsmith was. He quietly shared his passion for music, not seeking accolades or financial reward. A genuine gentleman, he will be sadly missed by many thousands of music lovers across the UK and hundreds of performers from all around the World. The Little Rabbit Barn, its incredible success and the high regard it’s held is a fitting legacy to Terry Goldsmith and all that he stood for.

“I’ve been professionally involved in music for 25 years now and I cannot think of anyone who has done more to support grass roots music. I will be ever grateful for Terry’s support and I know so many others who would say the same”

“Dale and I are so sad to hear of Terry’s passing. I can’t quite remember whether we first met him at The Green Note in London or at Maverick Festival, but what I do know is that he’s been such a big supporter of our music over the years. I believe he’s the reason we’ve been lucky enough to play at LRB multiple times, and for connecting us with The Sound Lounge in London.
He was always a smiling face and a warm hug—always positive, always encouraging us to keep coming back and doing what we love. He’s part of our musical journey, our lives, our story. And I feel privileged to have maybe been a small part of his life and his musical path as well.
What a gem. He is already deeply missed, and I hope you can find some comfort in knowing how much he was loved and how much light he brought into our lives and so many others.
Sending big hugs and love from Nova Scotia”

“He was a true believer in working musicians, not many of those left these days. He’ll be missed in the music community worldwide……Every time a performer plays a show is a good break, because it works towards making them a better musician and performer, honing their craft, and creates a bond with fellow music lovers which in turn also inspires the performer to keep moving forward. That’s what Terry did- connect people- and that’s what a true music promoter is supposed to do. He made an impact on many and personally for me, everyone and anyone (including ya’ll) who have been involved in my career helped me reach many goals I didn’t think I’d ever reach. He was a such a great man and will be missed.Yes, I hope we meet again- would love to bring The String Revolution out to the Barn one day. We’re working on setting up a European tour at some point soon and will stay in touch. All the best to you and yours and may Terry rest in peace knowing he made a huge difference in all of our lives.Love,Janet”
