DANNI NICHOLLS | VIC ALLEN | Saturday 15 August 2026

Danni Nicholls came to play the LRB for a record 9th time as part of a UK tour promoting her new MAKING MOVES album. Tonight we enjoyed a trio performance featuring Dave Banks on Electric Guitar and Luke Tuchscherer playing drums and percussion.

The first four tunes, after a brief soundcheck reset, are straight off said MAKING MOVES album…

Free Wheel, Honey, I want you, and Love Is Letting Go.

In the midst of these songs Danni apologies for her American accent recently picked up in her new home in East Nashville as she promotes the new album, appreciating the new haze machine we have at LRB to enhance the stage lighting.

The first two songs were lively high tempo openers with Danni telling her stories of life, songwriting and inspiration before slightly tamer I want You and Love is letting go.

Four Frames and Pendulum are two more classically recognisable Danni Nicholls songs from the MAKING MOVES album.

Next, it’s throwback time to 2013, when Danni’s first album A LITTLE REDEMPTION was released as the band perform Beautiful Game, followed by the title song from the 2024 UNDER THE NEEM PLUM TREE (mainly covers) EP. This led into a great solo cover of the country classic Crazy, written by Willie Nelson, made famous by Patsy Cline…

This EP was produced by LRB friend Sarah Peacock who many of you may have seen performing at LRB in the past.

Back to the MAKING MOVES album next, with Dave and Luke back on stage, for The Wreckage and its title track Making Moves.

I’ll carry on was written with Michelle Stodart on a zoom call during Covid and is a chance for the LRB Choir to do their stuff after Danni gave us some coaching, this audience interaction creates a lovely atmosphere in such an intimate environment. Track 9 on MAKING MOVES.

Back to the 2019 MELTED MORNING album as we approach the end of the set with Ancient Embers and the rousing Hear Your Voice that leads nicely into the encore of A Little Redemption, a song Danni has played at every gig since she wrote it 15 years ago and is the title of her first album way back then. The LRB Choir were once again in fine hum-along form before Danni said goodbyeanother Danni Nicholls classic we all know so well.

Thank you Danni Nicholls, Dave Banks and Luke Tuchscherer

Vic Allen came to play for her first time at the LRB after coming on our radar in 2018, Vic describes herself country based pop artist, living in London, clearly happy to be playing a gig not so far from home.

She opened with the first track of her 2023 album SOME PLACE I’D RATHER BE Enough…

Next, we enjoyed Mexico from Vic’s upcoming album

Healing and Pictures of us followed from the 2023 album, songs written from Vic’s life experiences.

Plenty of break up songs… Laughs…

Next we get the latest single, written with Liv Austin Falling In Love, also to be found on the new album.

After switching to electric guitar, Vic performs Wake Up Pretty and Ghost Town, two songs that are to be also found on the SOME PLACE I’D RATHER BE album. The latter written for a competition that she lost… Laughs…

Next we enjoyed two more songs from the new ‘Fan Funded’ album. Brighter and Hands.

The album was fully funded after 6 days of a 30 day crowd funder, that’s good going… These songs were written as a song writing challenge Vic engaged in to celebrate her buying this new guitar.

Back to acoustic guitar as Vic avoids the beam before promoting her album launch tour and playing a cover Want You to Know Who I Am.

What happened to her is next, also from the upcoming album, as is Ended In A Song

Back to the 2023 album now for a performance of Suitcase before the final song of Vic’s set, Drive Through… A chance for the LRB Choir to join in and be part of the band….

Thank you Vic Allen.
