CALLAGHAN

Delighted to welcome back CALLAGHAN to Little Rabbit Barn for a double headline show with CARTER SAMPSON to open our 2025 shows on Saturday 08 March.

What a journey Callaghan is on.

Originally from Lincolnshire Callaghan moved to the USA in summer 2010 to record and tour with Grammy-Nominee Shawn Mullins, since then she’s been performing and winning fans all across the USA.

One year turned into ten years performing and winning fans all over the USA. Constantly on the road touring across 47 states and clocking up over a quarter of a million tour miles on Wilson her 21 year old Toyota. She’s now a headliner in multiple US cities. The US music magazine No Depression says of her live show “Callaghan’s voice truly sets her music apart…nothing short of stunning“.

Callaghan’s US journey has taken her to LA to collaborate with Jeff Fair & Starr Parodi producers who have worked at the pinnacle of the movie soundtrack industry on MISSION IMPOSSIBLE and BOND MOVIES, and Anthony Resta who has previously produced Blondie, Duran Duran and Elton John.

Back home in the UK the BBC’s Bob Harris has been a strong supporter regularly playing her music and describing her as “a wonderful artist…hugely talented“. BBC Radio 2 have also given strong support play listing three singles Best Year, We Don’t Have to Change The World and Last Song, from her studio album A HISTORY OF NOW.

Breathtaking…absolutely incredible” is how BBC London’s Gaby Roslin describes hearing Callaghan live.

Callaghan plays piano and guitar and delivers a stunning vocal which earns frequent comparisons with artists like Sarah McLachlan and Emmy Lou Harris.  Her songwriting chronicles the stories, experiences and emotions which are part of everyone’s lives.

The UK’s Maverick Magazine calls her “a singer-songwriter of a seriously high standard” while US magazine No Depression reviewed her live show as “nothing short of stunning” Callaghan’s latest project, Callaghan’s Acoustic Coffee House 3, released in early 2024 – a collection of original songs and innovative covers of songs by artists including George Michael, Duran Duran and the Beach Boys.

Looking back to 2018 and reading the review from Little Rabbit Barn blog:

**FULL**CALLAGHAN | Saturday 28th April 2018 | international artist CALLAGHAN joins us for the final date on her UK Tour. See GIGS page for more details.

We welcomed Callaghan with an introduction that began…….

From the Bush hall in London hosted by Bob Harris (last evening) to The Little Rabbit Barn we are delighted to welcome Callaghan”,

Opening with Surrender Callaghan sat at her piano with Dan Snyder on Keyboard and we were treated to a masterclass in vocal purity. Nothing less. Callaghan says….

This next song took me across the pond, so I re-recorded it for my second album.  It’s a bit of an anthem for me now.

I have been to 47 states now with only Alaska, Hawaii and North Dakota to do.  That will be some tour” laughs… “Dan has been to all 50, but he was born over there is his excuse”. Laughs…  “BBC Radio 2 got behind the song and made it possible for me to come back and tour here in the UK. It’s called Best Year”. ‘I feel good time coming, I see the sun rising’is the lovely lyric that’s so easy to sing along to”

She is playing some festivals this year including The British Summertime festival in Hyde Park on the same bill as Paul Simon and James Taylor.

How can I meet James Taylor” She asks, “I’m formulating my plans as I am such a big fan”.

Chris wrote….I for one think that if he hears Callaghan perform like she did tonight, she won’t need to make any plans for the meeting.

The final song of the set was a stunning highlight to the evening as Callaghan, solo on the piano, played Over the Rainbow after offering her personal thank yous to all. Written in 1939 by E.Y. Harburg and covered by so many people, “it is my favourite song” she says.
