Sorrel Nation…
We were very proud the welcome Sorrel Nation back to the LRB, this time with a full band to close our 2025 season of live music.
So after many thanks yous from J for the teams efforts to bring the show alive, and without further ado, the stage lights appear and the show begins.
The vocal harmonies of Chaos Town set the tone in a jaunty singalong style.
As Q fixes a dodgy lead, Sorrel praises Lyn’s famous egg sandwiches and the wonderful LRB hospitality.
This leads to a song from Sorrel’s debut album LOST EN ROUTE, Old Man… Here we get to enjoy some lovely fills from Sam’s Dobro guitar, the first of many…

Sorrel, is clearly happy to be back at LRB and tells us how her last appearance here helped re launch her career. We can be very proud of that as without Sorrel, we would all miss some fine music.
Trouble Again from Sorrel’s 2024 debut album follows. Track 6.
It’s not Rock n Roll, but Sorrel’s band share a flask of tea on stage as she introduces Living Free, a song about following your dreams, something this band are doing in style.
Sorrel’s voice is clearly showcased here as well as the way the band leave so much space in the music, akin to enjoying a fine wine, surely a sound to savour?
Eggshells is another classic as Sorrel captures in song the trials of a difficult relationship. It’s a haunting tune made more so by the joint harmonies of the musical saw and cello.

We are invited to join in the chorus as the song comes to its climax, as I always say, if you come to the LRB you are part of the band, and what a band we had tonight.
Sam Anderson Resonator Guitar and backing vocals, Theo Holder cello and backing vocals, Holly Garwood musical Saw, acoustic guitar and backing vocals
Sorrel, now pays tribute to our dear friend Terry Goldsmith and his efforts to bring Sorrel’s music not only to the LRB , but to the world.
So Sorrel dedicates this next song to Terry and her friend Tom.
A Gillian Welch cover North Country from her 2024 album WOODLAND STUDIOS. That was beautiful.
But after all that emotion we enjoy a sexy singalong number Crazy For You, some fine lead guitar breaks on the Dobro were enjoyed from Sam. The audience loved that one…
Sorrel tells us of her life on the road travelling with her dog in the old camper van that inspired Wild Solitude again from the LOST EN ROUTE album.
We find out Sorrel has 10 more shows on this tour as she promotes the LOST EN ROUTE album and her new live EP LIVE AND ACOUSTIC. But now we get to enjoy the albums title track. That was superb…
It’s time to enjoy a brand new song, a month old, about a man who broke Sorrel’s heart… Ran Johnny Ran. A great song with a real familiar country feel and more of those lovely harmonies and a beautiful cello solo from Theo.
As Sorrel changes her guitar for one in open D tuning, she introduces the band before paying tribute to Gracie the rescue dog they lost a year ago. The Way The Wind Blows. This sad but hopeful song can be found on both the album and the live EP.
As Sorrel re tunes to DADGAD, she thanks the LRB team before performing Dead Man’s Road, a song written for a friend who was hitting life a little too hard… laughs… it’s all ok now we are assured.
As we approach the end of the show. Sorrel tells us that she can’t come to LITTLE RABBIT BARN and not play White Rabbit, the Jefferson Airplane classic from their 1967 album SURREALISTIC PILLOW.
Wow, that was an amazing cover and the audience wanted more… Time for an encore… A real treat, originally from Fairport Convention’s 1969 album UNHALFBRICKING, written and sung by the late great Sandy Denny. Who Knows Where The Time Goes.
You have to be good to perform a song like this and Sorrel Nation with her band bring it to life in spine tingling style.
Thank you Sorrel Nation, that was a truly fitting tribute to our dear friend Terry Goldsmith, we know he would have been proud of you all.

We have a lovely video to share from Sorrel Nation as she closed the 2025 season with her great band and the very first appearance of the musical saw at LRB.
BIG SHOUT TO ANGEL SNOW w JOE WILKINS FOR PLAYING THE FIRST HALF OF THE EVENING
It’s always a treat to have Angel Snow perform at LRB and this is a third time. Tonight she is with long term LRB friend Joe Wilkins playing support guitar to open our end of year show.
2025 was a year old highs and lows, the highs being the great music we all know and love, but the low was especially difficult with the loss of our dear friend Terry Goldsmith, who would have loved these shows as he introduced so many great artistes to LRB over the years.
Angel opened with Coals and Water from her 2007 album FORTUNE TELLERS.

Following some discussion on where the LRB actually is in the UK, performs Secret, a song that can be found on Angel’s 2017 album MAGNETIC
Angel pays tribute to Terry Goldsmith, as without him, she would never have been introduced to the LRB and wouldn’t be here tonight.
Let You Down is another song from the MAGNETIC album that we enjoyed before Angel played the lovely Magnetic.
These hunting tunes have a trance like effect on the soul, especially with Joe’s tasteful guitar support adding beautiful colour and flavour to the mix.
Angel introduces Joe now, as if we didn’t know him already, but there may have been some in the room?
Midnight Sun is next, Angel’s latest single released in may 2025, followed by Arrows, a song about relationships. A 2019 single release.
Joe now swaps to an Acoustic Guitar for Window Seat, inspired, we are told, by thoughts on a relationship whilst aboard Angel’s first flight to the UK.
THAT’S JOE WILKINS !

To great laughs, Angel decides we need to take the the tone down a notch as she performs Low from the 2021 album of the same name, then I Need You from MAGNETIC. So many great songs tonight and I Miss You from the LOW album is another one.
Joe, back with his acoustic guitar, is finally ready to help Angel perform the Tom Waits song Hold On. You can find the original on Tom Waits 1999 album MULE VARIATIONS. Angel’s version is on her 2023 YESTERDAY IS HERE album. It’s a beautiful song that Angel makes her own.
Next we hear the story of how Angel got to meet Alison Krauss in Nashville at the school gates leading to Alison covering the next song on her PAPER AIRPLANE album, Lie Awake. The original is to be found on the 2012 album ANGEL SNOW.
Old Guitars take a lot of tuning, Joe tells us, and Angel’s Gibson is from 1948, but as with the next song title, it’s Holding On, another fine song from the MAGNETIC album, before we head to the Encore, the beautiful Vienna, a fitting song to close this fine set.
Joe’s favourite song and a fine tribute to Terry as Joe explains that it was in Terry and Vicki’s house that Joe and Angel first met. We all have much to remember from TERRY GOLDSMITH.
